Studies indicate that Black immigrants in the United States face disproportionately higher rates of deportation compared to other immigrant groups, even when accounting for factors like criminal history. source
Overrepresentation in Deportation Proceedings: Black migrants make up a small percentage of the undocumented population (around 7.2% of all non-citizens and 5.4% of the undocumented population), but they represent a much higher proportion of those facing deportation, particularly those facing deportation based on criminal grounds. source
Criminal Grounds for Deportation: Black immigrants are disproportionately represented in deportation proceedings based on criminal convictions, accounting for 20% of such cases despite being only 7% of the non-citizen population.
