Obviously, the greatest sources of HIV risk are structural disadvantages, in particular the structural forms of homophobia and racism that affect gay and bisexual men of color, disproportionately. At the same time, researchers have looked at social and behavioral influences, like how stress affects decision-making and risk-taking. To my knowledge, no previous studies had really homed in on the stress that gay bisexual men might experience with each other as predictors of HIV risk-taking.
